A drake bufflehead is the smallest diving duck in North America and one of the most popular small mounts we build. The oversized white head patch, the iridescent purple and green crown, and the crisp black-and-white body make a bufflehead mount look sharp on a shelf or desk, and its size means it fits where…
A drake American wigeon, the “baldpate,” is one of the most underrated ducks on the wall: a cream-white crown, an iridescent green eye stripe, a pinkish body, and a bright white shoulder patch that flashes in flight. Wigeon mounts are a favorite with hunters who want something other than a mallard, and the medium size…
The canvasback is the king of the divers: a long sloping profile, a deep red head and eye, a black chest, and a back so pale it looks white on the water. A drake canvasback mount has presence, and because cans are big for a duck, the mount holds its own next to a goose.…
The short answer: a whitetail shoulder mount is $1,100 at Stehling’s Taxidermy, a pedestal mount is $1,350, a European skull mount is $275, and a full life-size mount is $3,200. Those are flat prices, not “starting at” numbers, and they cover any pose, head turn, or ear set. Below is what each option includes, what…
A big northern pike is long, mean, and built for the wall, and a 40-inch fish from the Wisconsin River, Green Bay, or a Canadian trip makes one of the most dramatic fish mounts there is. Stehling’s Taxidermy has been mounting northern pike in Jefferson, Wisconsin since 1978, as skin mounts and hand-painted replicas, and…
A five-pound largemouth from a farm pond or a football smallmouth from Sturgeon Bay is a fish worth keeping on the wall, and bass are some of the most satisfying fish we mount. Stehling’s Taxidermy has built largemouth and smallmouth bass mounts in Jefferson, Wisconsin since 1978, as skin mounts of kept fish and hand-painted…
A walleye is the fish most Wisconsin anglers grow up chasing, and a big one from Winnebago, Green Bay, the Wolf River, or a Canadian fly-in trip deserves to be on the wall. Stehling’s Taxidermy has been mounting walleye in Jefferson, Wisconsin since 1978, in both traditional skin mounts and hand-painted replicas, and we ship…
A pedestal mount takes a whitetail off the wall and puts it on a base, with the neck and part of the chest finished all the way around so the buck can be seen from every side. The pedestal upgrade is $250 over a standard shoulder mount, with the base or wall panel quoted separately.…
The pose is the first decision on a whitetail shoulder mount and the one you will live with the longest. A buck’s rack, neck, and the story of the hunt all point toward one pose over another, and picking the right one is most of what separates a mount you walk past from one you…
