Asian Pheasant Mounts
Golden, Lady Amherst, silver, Reeves’s, and the other ornamental pheasants of Asia are among the most spectacular birds anyone can put on a wall, and almost none of them are hunted in North America. The ones we mount come from aviculturists, breeders, game farms, and private collections, usually after a bird dies of natural causes. If you keep ornamental pheasants, we can preserve them.
Species We Mount
Golden pheasant, Lady Amherst’s pheasant, silver pheasant, Reeves’s pheasant, Impeyan (Himalayan monal), Swinhoe’s, blue and green peafowl, and most other ornamental gallinaceous birds. The long-tailed species, Reeves’s and Lady Amherst in particular, need a display that gives the tail room, and we will help you plan that before we start.
Poses
Standing on a natural wood base is the most common and shows the full tail. Strutting or displaying poses suit golden and Lady Amherst drakes. Flying mounts work, though on long-tailed species they need a lot of wall. Pairs and small groups on one base are popular with collectors.
Asian Pheasant Mount Pricing
$575 for any pheasant, ornamental or wild. Peafowl and unusually large species are quoted per bird. Bases and habitat are additional. Pay in full, 50/50, three installments, or monthly through our Easy 8 Payment Plan. Standard delivery is 12 to 14 months. See the full price list.
If You Keep Ornamental Pheasants
Birds die on their own schedule, usually overnight and usually when you are not ready. Handle it the same way you would a hunted bird: do not gut it, and smooth the feathers. As soon as you find it, tuck the bird’s head under its wing, place it in one or two Ziploc bags or garbage bags, and freeze it. Call us and we will tell you what condition it is in.
