Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Stehling’s Taxidermy LLC (“Stehling’s,” “we,” “us”) runs this website, taxidermyplanet.com, and taxidermy studios in Jefferson and New Franken, Wisconsin. This policy explains what information we collect through the website, how we use it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have.
Questions about your information: email frontdesk@taxidermyplanet.com, call (920) 650-7800, or write to Stehling’s Taxidermy LLC, 913 N. Parkway St., Jefferson, WI 53549.
1. Information you give us
Our forms ask for what we need to answer you:
- Inquiry and contact forms: your name, email address and phone number, why you are contacting us, the species and approximate hunt date, an existing project reference if you have one, and your message. Some forms are shorter; the quote form, for example, asks for your name, email and what you would like quoted.
- Reference photos: our main inquiry form lets you attach photos (JPG, PNG or HEIC). Photos you upload through our website are used only for quote work and are not published.
- Mount Planner: if you use our planner and then send us an inquiry, a summary of your selections (for example species, pose, display and estimate) is added to your inquiry. The planner itself does not ask for your name or contact details.
- Job applications: your name, email, phone, message and the résumé you upload.
- Testimonials: your name, an optional email address, your testimonial and whether you give us permission to publish it.
When you call, text or email us, or visit one of our studios, we also receive what you share with us, such as your phone number and messages.
We do not take payments or card details through this website.
2. Information collected automatically
- Form records: when you send a form, our form system also records your IP address, your browser type and the page you used.
- Spam protection: some of our forms use Google reCAPTCHA, which collects device and usage information that Google uses to tell people from automated programs. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to reCAPTCHA. Some forms also use a hidden field to catch automated spam.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, scrolling, clicks on links and downloads, approximate location and device type. It uses cookies. We also record when an inquiry form is sent successfully and when someone taps our call, text or email links. These records show which form or link was used; they do not include what you typed into a form or your phone number. Google signals is turned off for our Analytics property.
- Advertising: our site currently includes Google Ads tags. They measure visits and form submissions for advertising and can add visitors to advertising audiences (often called remarketing), so that ads can be shown to them on other websites. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show ads based on your past visits to this website and other websites. When you send a form, Google’s tag may also detect the email address you entered and send it to Google in hashed (scrambled) form for ad measurement.
- Business visitor insights: our site currently includes a Leadfeeder (Dealfront) tag. It uses a cookie and the IP address of your connection to identify the company network a visit comes from, and it records the pages viewed.
- Website operations and security: our hosting provider (GoDaddy) and our security service (Wordfence) record IP addresses and request details to keep the site running and protect it from attacks. GoDaddy also measures how quickly our pages load and sets its own cookies to do so.
- Embedded content and fonts: some pages show Google Maps, YouTube videos or Facebook posts, and our pages load fonts from Google. When these load, those companies receive your IP address and may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
3. How we use information
- To answer your questions, prepare estimates and quotes, and arrange drop-off, shipping or import paperwork.
- To carry out your project and keep you updated about it.
- To send marketing emails to our email list (see below).
- To review job applications.
- To publish testimonials that people have given us permission to publish.
- To protect the website and our forms from spam and misuse.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To measure advertising and see which businesses visit our site, through the tags described above.
- To keep business records and meet our legal obligations.
Messages about your inquiry or project. When you contact us, we use your email address and phone number to reply. If you become a customer, we use them to keep you updated about your project by phone, text or email.
Marketing emails. We use Mailchimp to send marketing emails to our email list, which includes customers, people who have submitted inquiries and subscribers. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop communications needed to respond to your inquiry or manage your project. We do not currently send promotional text messages.
Photos you upload. Photos you upload through our website are used only for quote work and are not published. This is separate from the photographs we take of our own work, such as finished mounts in our studio.
Testimonials. When you send a testimonial through our website, we ask for your permission to publish it. We publish it with your first name and last initial, and we never publish your email address or phone number. Reviews you post on other websites, such as Google, are shown with the name that appears there.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent customer contact details. The companies named in this policy still receive the information described here when they provide their services or run their tags on our site, for example Google receiving Analytics and advertising data and Leadfeeder receiving visit data.
- Service providers that run parts of our website and email: GoDaddy (website hosting and performance monitoring), SendLayer (delivers form notifications to our inbox), Google (business email, Analytics, Ads, reCAPTCHA, fonts and maps), Wordfence (website security), Mailchimp (marketing emails) and Leadfeeder/Dealfront (business visitor insights).
- Partners who help complete your project, when your project needs it. For example, our commercial tannery, import brokers, dip-and-pack facilities and shipping carriers receive the information they need for that work.
- Government agencies when the law requires it, such as wildlife or import records (for example, USDA records for birds cleared through our import facility).
- Others if we sell or reorganize the business, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public where the law allows.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser; “browser storage” works in a similar way. This site uses:
6. Your choices
- Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies in your browser. The website, including our inquiry forms, works without analytics or advertising cookies.
- Google Analytics: you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Ads: manage personalized ads from Google at My Ad Center, or use the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
- Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or contact us.
7. How long we keep information
Inquiries sent through our forms, including any photos and Mount Planner summaries, are stored in our website’s form system and in our email until we delete them. Copies of the notification emails our website sends are also kept in the website’s email log. We have not set an automatic deletion period. Project records are kept as long as we need them for your project and for our business and legal records. Google and Leadfeeder keep the data their tags collect for the periods set in our accounts and under their own policies. If you would like us to delete an inquiry, contact us. We will tell you what we can delete and anything we need to keep.
8. Your requests
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details at the top of this page. We may need to confirm your identity, and we will explain anything we must keep. If the law where you live gives you additional privacy rights, we will respond as that law requires.
9. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), spam protection on our forms and a website security service. No website or email system is completely secure.
10. Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Visitors outside the United States
We are based in the United States, and information you send us is processed in the United States.
12. Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites, such as Epic Journey Design (our affiliated exhibit business), outfitters, government agencies and social media. Their privacy practices are their own.
13. Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date.
