Expert Moose Taxidermy in Wisconsin

A moose is the trophy of a lifetime, and it deserves a mount that does justice to its sheer scale and presence. With experience dating back to 1978, Stehling’s Taxidermy produces museum-quality moose shoulder mounts, pedestal mounts, and full-body displays that capture the animal’s massive frame, distinctive bell, and broad palmated antlers. Whether your bull came from Canada, Alaska, or a hard-earned draw tag closer to home, our team has the space, forms, and craftsmanship to mount it right.

Moose Mount Options

Because of their size, moose are most often done as shoulder mounts or dramatic pedestal mounts, but we also build full-body and half-body displays for trophy rooms and lodges with the space to show them off. We can pose your moose alert, relaxed, or in a natural feeding stance, and we work with you on wall-pedestal options, habitat bases, and antler presentation to make the mount fit your space.

Ready to get your bull mounted?

Tell us about your moose and we will help you choose the pose, the base, and where it will live in the room. Drop off at either Wisconsin studio, or ship your frozen cape and antlers to Jefferson.

Field Care: Protecting Your Moose Before It Reaches Us

Moose present unique field-care challenges simply because of their size. Cool the cape quickly, keep it out of direct sun, and get it to a freezer as soon as possible. If you are field-dressing far from a road, take extra care caping around the bell and brisket, and leave plenty of hide rather than cutting too close. If you are unsure how to handle a cape this large, call us before you cut — a few minutes of guidance can save your mount.

Frequently Asked Questions About Moose Taxidermy

How much does a moose shoulder mount cost?
A moose shoulder mount starts at $2,500 and a life-size (full-body) moose starts at $11,000 at Stehling’s Taxidermy. Pedestal mounts, habitat bases, and custom poses are quoted individually.
How long does a moose mount take to complete?
Delivery times vary by project. Contact us for current delivery times. If you need your moose back sooner, rush service is available on select orders. Rush capacity is limited, so ask early.
How much wall space does a moose shoulder mount need?
Moose are the largest members of the deer family, so a shoulder mount projects much further off the wall and hangs higher than most hunters expect. Bring us your ceiling height and wall dimensions and we will help you choose a pose and mounting height that fits the room before we start.
Can you mount a moose I harvested in Canada or Alaska?
Yes. We regularly work with hunters returning from Canadian, Alaskan, and northern draw hunts. You can drop off or ship your cape and antlers to either Wisconsin studio. Proper field care and freezing before shipping are essential, so call us before you cape if you have any doubt.
Do you offer European skull mounts for moose?
No. We do not offer European mounts for moose or elk. For a moose we recommend a shoulder mount or a pedestal mount.
Where are your taxidermy studios located?
Every moose mount is built in our Jefferson studio in south-central Wisconsin. You can drop off or pick up there or at our New Franken (Green Bay area) showroom in the northeast. Stehling’s Taxidermy has been family-owned and operated since 1978.
