Beaver Taxidermy

Life-size beaver mounts are $2,000 per mount; the habitat base is additional and quoted per project. Pelts and wall hangers are quoted individually.

Castor canadensis

North America’s largest rodent, mounted on the habitat it builds: an octagonal base with chewed aspen sticks, a cut stump and wood chips. Beaver mounts make a substantial, conversation-starting floor or tabletop display.

Our work

How we mount beaver

A beaver has a lot of hide and a very particular shape — a dense, wide body, small ears set low on the head, and the tail and webbed hind feet that make the animal. We keep the tail and feet detailed, set the orange incisors so they show, and pose the beaver either sitting up in a grooming pose or on all fours at the edge of its cut.

Most beaver mounts leave here on a custom octagonal or round habitat base with chewed sticks, a gnawed stump and wood chips we cast from real beaver work. We also tan beaver pelts and build wall hangers for customers who want the fur without a full mount.

Field care

Caring for your beaver in the field

  1. Do not skin the beaver. Rinse mud off the tail and feet with cold water and freeze the animal whole.
  2. Keep the tail flat while freezing so it does not curl or crease.
  3. Large beaver are heavy — bag them well and let us know the weight so we can plan the form.

Yes. Tails are tanned or mounted alone on a plaque, and we also do beaver pelts and wall hangers.

How big is a finished beaver mount?

A typical life-size adult on a habitat base is about 30 inches long and 18–20 inches tall, so plan for a tabletop or floor pedestal.

How much does a beaver mount cost?

Life-size beaver mounts are $2,000. Habitat bases are additional. Pay in full, 50/50, three installments, or monthly with our Easy 8 plan. See full pricing.
