Bobcat Taxidermy

Lynx rufus

Wisconsin’s only wild cat, mounted the way it hunts: crouched on a rock ledge, climbing down a driftwood wall panel, or crossing snow with a fresh kill. We build bobcat mounts that keep the loose, spotted coat and the intense face that make a cat look alive.

How we mount bobcat

Bobcats are all about attitude. The coat is loose and heavily spotted, the ears carry black tufts and white spots on the back, and the face has a ruff that changes the whole look of the animal depending on how it is set. We sculpt each cat’s expression to match the pose — relaxed on a ledge, alert on a driftwood limb, or mid-stalk — instead of forcing every bobcat into the same form.

Our most popular bobcat displays are wall habitat scenes: a rock ledge with pine boughs, a driftwood panel the cat is climbing down, or a two-animal scene with a fox, otter or grouse. Floor pedestal and tabletop life-size mounts on snow, driftwood or rock bases are the next most common, and we also build bobcat rugs with open- or closed-mouth heads.

Field care

Caring for your bobcat in the field

  1. Do not gut or skin the cat. Keep it cool and get it to us or into a freezer as soon as you can.
  2. Keep blood off the face and belly fur; wipe with a damp cloth and let it dry before freezing.
  3. Freeze the whole animal in a plastic bag with the air squeezed out. Do not wrap the cat in newspaper.

Questions

Bobcat taxidermy FAQ

Can you mount a bobcat that was trapped?

Yes. Trapped cats usually mount well because the hide is undamaged. Note where the trap was on the leg so we can plan the pose around it.

How much does a bobcat mount cost?

Life-size bobcat mounts are $2,000; rugs and habitat bases are quoted with your mount. Pay in full, 50/50, three installments, or monthly with our Easy 8 plan. See full pricing.

How long does a bobcat mount take?

Delivery times vary by project. Contact us for current delivery times. Rush service is available on select orders. Complex habitat bases can add time.
