Museum-grade bear taxidermy for every trophy species.
From Wisconsin black bears to Alaskan brown bears, grizzlies, and imports from abroad — Stehling's has mounted them all. Forty-five years of craft, two studios, one standard.
A bear mount is a once-in-a-lifetime decision. We treat it that way.
Bears test the limits of taxidermy — massive hides, dense fur, commanding anatomy. Every mount we build honors the hunt and the animal with correct reference, hand-sculpted anatomy, and materials chosen to last generations.
Forty-Five Years on Bears
From the first black bear through Alaskan browns and grizzlies, we've built the muscle memory — and the reference library — that only comes with decades of mounts.
Pose-Driven, Not Catalog
Full life-size, half, pedestal, rug, skull — every pose is built to your room, your reference photos, and the personality of your bear.
Two Wisconsin Studios
Drop off in Jefferson or Green Bay. Serving hunters across Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula.
All bear species. One standard of craft.
Whether your bear came from a Wisconsin stand, an Alaskan spot-and-stalk, or a guided hunt abroad, we have the hides, forms, and experience to do it justice.
Black Bear
Wisconsin's native species. Our most-mounted bear — full life-size, half, rug, or skull.
Brown / Alaskan
Coastal browns and Kodiaks. Oversized forms, heavy hide handling, museum-grade finishing.
Grizzly
Rocky Mountain and Canadian grizzlies. Commanding poses built for the animal's power.
International Trophies
Bear imports from international hunts. We handle all documentation and coordination requirements.

Transparent starting points.
Bears vary wildly in size, hide condition, and pose complexity. The numbers below are starting points — final quotes are built after we see the animal.

Bears are a race against heat. The first six hours after harvest matter more than the next six months. Follow these essentials — then read the full guides.
The Four Essentials
- Cool it fast. Get the bear out of the sun, skinned or gutted quickly, and into a cooler or walk-in within hours.
- Don't drag it out. Dragging rubs hair off hide. Pack it out or carry it if at all possible.
- Photograph before skinning. Multiple angles of the head, feet, and claws help us with reference and anatomy.
- Call us same-day. We'll walk you through freezing, shipping, or drop-off based on where you are.
