Bering Sea Custom Water Build Taxidermy
Bering Sea Custom Water Build Taxidermy– This large build-in project was commissioned to replicate a Bering Sea morning. While this piece is in a private collection, it was designed to be both entertaining and educational. The project posed many challenges. The scene is on the second floor in a large game room overlooking a lake. We had to make the display in pieces so it could be constructed at the shop, disassembled, trucked two hours, carried up two flights of stairs, and reassembled on site. What made the project even more challenging was working around the existing posts and angled ceiling. We made a replication of the room , including the posts in their exact position, at the shop. It took many months of hard work by the entire team at the shop to build, and weeks of on-site work to reconstruct. The project features a wide variety of fish, birds, mammals, and other Sealife . The water area is over 100 sq feet of custom sculpted wave scene that completely filled our straight truck and took 5 people to lift up two flights of stairs in 6 pieces. The Sea Lion is a custom reproduction that was made to depict a Stellars sea lion cow. The underwater portion is lighted by over 200 LEDs . The control center of the piece is located behind a rock door inside the Walrus. When the door is opened the underwater lights and the spotlights can be controlled from two different control panels . A tablet is also found behind this rock door that displays current weather conditions around the St Paul Island area , as well as controls the lighting, holds hundreds of pictures of the hunt and a detailed video showing the construction of the piece and talking about the different animals in the display . The entire piece can be controlled remotely through this tablet as well as through voice control on site. Numerous hidden doors are found throughout the project including a hidden gun safe . We will be adding in many more ducks and fish, including flying ducks as our client provides them . Please scroll through all the pictures as near the end I have included some in-process shots .
